On April 19, 2007, the Humane Society was pleased to donate nine dog benches, manufactured by the Mason Company, to the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter. These benches provide a cleaner and more comfortable sleep location for the shelter dogs in the kennels. Without these benches, the shelter dogs must lie on the concrete floor, which may be wet or soiled. The Shelter only had five of these benches for the thirty-nine dog kennels. The addition of these nine dog benches will significantly improve humane conditions for more of the shelter dogs awaiting adoption.
Board members, Susan Blackford and Mary Harvey, presented the dog benches to Don Russell from the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter.
