How to Report Animal Neglect or Animal Cruelty

Tennessee law requires pet owners to provide their pets with adequate food, water, and shelter, as well as medical treatment to prevent suffering. State law also prohibits cruel treatment to animals.

The Oak Ridge City Council adopted the following Animal Ordinances in August, 1999. These ordinances detail the rules for the registration of dogs and cats, rabies control, cruelty to animals, noisy animals, impoundment of animals, improper care of animals, reporting animal bites, and vicious dogs.
